Sturston goal

Highlights

More information

The goal for the Up'ards team is in the Henmore Brook at Sturston Mill, approx 1.5 miles from the centre of the play zone. The ball is goaled when it is struck three times against the stone plinth. This can only be done whilst the player honoured with task of scoring is actually in the river.

Normally by the time the ball has reached the goal,  several hundred spectators have also arrived. But sometimes the ball slips away unnoticed and the goaling is done with just a few team members and stewards present.

There is an easy walk to the Mill, also taking in Bradley Wood. It is best avoided in the few weeks after the game, especially if the game was wet.
