Shrovetide plinth

The Shrovetide plinth is where the ball is "turned up" at the start of play and again on any restart after a goal is scored. Play finishes each day at 10pm or after any goal after 6pm.

This impressive sandstone plinth was constructed for the 2024 game and is located in the middle of Shawcroft car park.  The previous plinth was made of brick and located by the carpark entrance from Park Road. It was moved to reduce a perceived the advantage to the Up'ards team, from having the start next to the road.
