Remembrance parade
When
Ashbourne remembers those lost and fallen in war with one of the largest parades in Derbyshire.
All timings approximate.
10am: The parade lines up in the Market Place alongside the Town Hall. There will be veterans, serving military, cadets, councillors, fire service personnel, cubs, scout, guides and so forth plus the town band.
10:00 to 10:20: The parade makes its way along St John Street and Church Street to St Oswalds Church.
10:30: Church service - all welcome.
11:20: The parade reforms outside the church and makes its way to the War Memorial Gates at the park.
11:40: Wreaths are laid at the gates, the last post is played and there are speeches and a short service.
12:15: The parade reforms again and makes its way back to the Market Place.
There is a rolling road closure with roads closing and reopening depending on where the parade is - expect delays.
There is nothing organised for the 11am silence unless you are in the church or in a building that chooses to do it. There will usually be people by the Memorial Gates if you want to be silent in company.
The best of the rest
There is so much more out there to see - we can't show them all, but here are a few.... (more coming...)
